  • This card is very useful if you can Superior Ride Embodiment of Victory, Aleph or Blazing Flare Dragon. If you plan to activate this card's Megablast, you can unleash it and wipe out 3 of your opponent's rearguard while at the same time maintaining pressure if you boost the attack with Embodiment of Armor, Bahr for a 20k hit. You can get the cards for superior riding the other units by activating Conroe's skill.
    • ​If you do plan on activating Lizard Soldier, Conroe's skill, you'll have to use some form of Counter Charge.
    • Bellicosity Dragon can be added to a build with this card as it can be useful to unflip cards in your damage zone if you wish to activate this card's Megablast.
  • Several Cards gain power for having a rear guard retire during the main phase. Some examples are:
    • Demonic Dragon Mage, Rakshasa: A Critical Trigger with a 3000 base, it gets +3000 power when it is on rear guard and you retire a unit during the main phase.
    • Demonic Dragon Madonna, Joka: A grade 1 with a 6000 base, it gets +3000 power when it is on rear guard and you retire a unit during the main phase.
    • Demonic Dragon Mage, Mahoraga: A grade 1 with a 5000 base, it gets +5000 power when it is on rear guard and you retire a unit during the main phase.
    • Dragon Monk Gyokuryu: a grade 1 with a 6000 base, at generation break 1 it gets +5000 power when it is on rear guard and you retire a unit during the main phase.
    • Perdition Battler, Maleisei: A grade 1 with a 7000 base, when a rear guard in the same column as it is put into the drop zone from the opponents rear guard due to an effect you control during the main phase, it gets +3000
    • Chain-attack Sutherland: A grade 2 with a 8000 base, it gets +3000 power when it is on rear guard and you retire a unit during the main phase.
    • Dragon Knight, Tanaz: A grade 2 with a 8000 base, at generation break 1 it gets +5000 power when it is on rear guard and you retire a unit during the main phase.
    • Blazing Flare Dragon: A grade 3 with a 10000 base, it can be used as an alternate vanguard. It get's +3000 power when it is on vanguard or rear guard and you retire a unit during the main phase.
    • Dragon Knight, Soheil: a grade 3 with a 11000 base, at generation break 1 it gets +5000 power when it is on vanguard or rear guard and you retire a unit during the main phase.
  • Several cards can add to the soul while either being a strong unit or giving an additional retire effect as well. Some examples are:
    • Wyvernkid Ragla: a grade 0 with a 5000 base, at generation break 1, for a counter blast of 1, you can put it into your soul, and retire a grade 1 or less rear guard an opponent controls.
    • Dragon Knight, Sadegh: A grade 0 with a 5000 base, when a rear guard is retired from your opponents rear guard from an effect you control, you may put it into your soul to retire another rear guard.
    • Gattling Claw Dragon: A draw trigger with a 4000 base, you can put it into your soul for a counter blast of 1, and retire a grade 0 unit from the opponents rear guard.
    • Demonic Dragon Mage, Kimnara: A grade 1 with a 6000 base, you can put it into your should for a counter blast of 1, and retire a grade 1 unit from the opponents rear guard.
    • Energy Flame, Aethonic: a grade 1 with a 7000 base, you can put it into your soul when you retire a unit your opponent controls with an effect you control to counter charge 2.
    • Dragon Knight, Mahmit: a grade 1 with a 7000 base, when you are at generation break 1, and a unit in the same column as it is put into the drop zone from an effect you control, it gets +2000 and if it boosts a successful attack on an opponents vanguard, you can soul charge 2
    • Flame Edge Dragon: a grade 2 with a 9000 base, when it's attack hits, you can soul charge 1
    • Demonic Dragon Berserker, Putana: a grade 2 with a 8000 base, if you are at generation break 1, and an attack from it hits a vanguard, you can counter blast 1, put it into your soul, and retire two of your opponents rear guards.
  • Cards that have Blaze are strong when combined with this unit. Some examples include:
    • Inspire Yell Dragon: Is a returning Stand Trigger once Generation Break 1 is activated, and can be used to give a power boots of +5000 to a unit of your choice, and you get to draw a new card.
    • Dragon Knight, Roia: Can be used as a defensive option after it boosts, as it is bound after it boost or attacked if your vanguard is Blazing, and it gets a shield boost of +5000.
    • Escort Dragon Attendant, Reas: While it does go and take up a soul blast of 1, at Generation Break 1, if it boosts, it can be returned to your hand.
    • Apex Dragon Mage, Kinnara: While it's Retiring will take place mostly during the Battle Phase, you can move it into your soul after the battle if your vanguard is Blazing for a counter blast of 1, and retire a grade 1 or less.
    • Dragon Knight, Nadim: When it attacks, it gets a power boost of + 2000, and if you are at Generation Break 1, you can Counter Charge 1 if the attack hits a Vanguard.
    • Dragon Fang Chain-shots, Sutherland: One of the best alternate Grade 3 units you can use, Sutherland not only has an instance of Blaze you can use, but when your other unit is place on rear guard, for a counter blast of 1, you can retire a unit in the same column as it. In addition, if you have Escort Dragon Attendant, Reas in the same column as it when your vanguard is Blazing, it gets +4000 power.
